The worship volunteers help SGMC inspire, encourage, and lead our church in worship.
Worship Support brings together the teams who make Sunday mornings meaningful—from music and prayer to audio/visual and livestream. Whether you love singing, serving behind the scenes, or supporting worship through prayer, there’s a place for you.
Music & Worship Leadership
Adult Choir leads worship through weekly anthems, special services, and seasonal music. Taylor Douglass, our worship intern, will help lead every second and fourth Sunday. A praise team from Awakening College Fellowship (ACF) assists with worship every third Sunday.

Altar Flowers
Kathryn Laughlin's team coordinates weekly altar flowers, creating a beautiful and reverent worship space for the congregation. They also are responsible for seasonal and special event worship décor—Easter, Christmas, All Saints' Day, and more. Volunteers are welcome.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Ministry Team gathers before worship to pray for the service, our pastors, and the congregation, asking God to prepare hearts for worship and His Word.
Team members encourage anyone in need of prayer to reach out to them. They are eager to offer quiet support and encouragement, praying with and for those who desire prayer.
Volunteers who feel called to serve others through prayer are encouraged to join this meaningful ministry.

Ushers
Ushers welcome worshipers, assist with seating, collect the morning offering, and support a smooth flow throughout the service. Volunteers are welcome on this team.

Sacrament Team/Communion Assistants
Each month the Sacrament Team invites members of the congregation to assist with the serving of Communion. Volunteers serve in teams at one of four locations. Communion typically occurs on the first Sunday of the month and on special occasions/services. Volunteers are encouraged to reach out.

Lay Coordinators
Lay Coordinators help shape the rhythm of Sunday worship by inviting members of the congregation to participate in key moments of the service. Each week, they select and schedule lay volunteers who offer the welcome, lead in the Apostles Creed, share the invitation to generosity.
Volunteers are encouraged to serve by stepping into these simple leadership moments so vital to the life of SGMC.

Worship Connect Team
Technology • Media • Communication • Connection
Using technology to help people encounter Christ and stay connected to the life of our church. No Experience Necessary. Whether you're creative, technical, or simply enjoy helping others, there's a place for you on the Worship Connect team. Training and support are provided.
AV
The AV Team ensures a smooth, engaging worship experience each Sunday by managing all in‑service media and technical elements. They run sound, slides, lighting, and worship media, coordinating closely with pastors, musicians, and worship leaders to support the service. They also support the Streaming Team in delivering a reliable online worship experience each week.
Volunteers are welcome — whether new to AV or already familiar with worship technology, the team provides hands‑on guidance as you grow into your role.

Streamers (Livestream)
The Streaming Team sets up cameras and manages the livestream on Facebook and YouTube throughout the service each week. This volunteer team ensures SGMC’s worship reaches members at home and beyond with a smooth, reliable online experience.
They work closely with the AV Team to support consistent streaming quality.
Volunteers are welcome — whether you’re curious about streaming or have experience with cameras and online platforms, the team will help you ease in, observe, and build confidence as you serve.

Communication Team
The Communication Team designs the welcome announcements projected prior to worship and manages SGMC’s social media promotions and website content and maintenance.
This team welcomes volunteers with experience in Canva design and website design/maintenance to help create visual materials, update ministry pages, and ensure every ministry is clearly represented online.

Realm Support
The Realm Support Volunteer helps members get logged in to Realm and become familiar with this software that keeps our church connected. This person assists with account setup and shows them how to access important tools—especially the online membership directory. Their goal is to make Realm easy, welcoming, and useful for every member.
