The Missions Ministry leads SGMC in living out Christ’s call to love our neighbors. Through local partnerships, seasonal outreach, food collection, and practical service projects, SGMC members make a real difference in our community. If you feel called to serve others, there is a place for you here.
In addition to the missions projects spotlighted here, SGMC also supports a variety of other projects including Awakening College Fellowship MSU, Kairos Torch Prison Ministry, MSU International Fiesta, JP Corhern Gospel Ministry in Japan, meal trains and more.

Angel Tree
Angel Tree is a long‑standing SGMC mission project that provides Christmas gifts for families in need helping them have a joyful Christmas. Church members select angel tags from the trees in the Springer Center and purchase the gifts listed and returned wrapped with the angel attached. Volunteers identify the families, organize Angel Tree tags and the gifts for delivery, and help with delivery. Volunteers are needed.

Casserole Kitchen
Casserole Kitchen is a partnership of area churches providing three hot meals each week to neighbors in need. Meals prepared by church teams are served Tuesday and Thursday at 6 PM. and Saturday at 11 AM at the Episcopal Church parish hall.
SGMC contributes by providing a meal on the second Thursday of every other month. Volunteers are needed to prepare the meal, serve guests, and offer warm hospitality to our community.

Monthly Food Collection
Each first Sunday, SGMC members bring non‑perishable food items to support Ward‑Stewart Elementary students and Starkville Strong, helping address food scarcity in our community.
Volunteers collect the monthly donations and deliver them where needed and encourage the congregation to support this worthy cause.

Beds for Kids
Beds for Kids brings volunteers together to provide children in our community with a safe, comfortable place to sleep. There are three ways to serve—bed construction, bedding procurement, and bed delivery—each playing an important role in helping provide a complete bed for a child in need.

Bed Construction
Volunteers spend a few days each week building beds—cutting wood, sanding, and assembling single and bunk beds—in Robert Gholston’s fully equipped wood shop. It’s a time of community and fellowship as volunteers of all experience levels work together on this project. A vital need is "Builders in Training" — come out and watch and learn.

Bedding Procurement
Volunteers ensure every delivered bed has the needed bedding—comforters suited for boy or girl, sheets, and a pillow—along with a stuffed animal (some handmade by the Sew Prayerful Ministry) and an age‑appropriate Bible. The team organizes inventory, looks for great sales to minimize cost, and seeks donations when supplies run low.

Delivery
Volunteers deliver beds to families, assemble them on site, make them up with the beautiful bedding, and celebrate with the children and their families. It’s a joyful, hands‑on moment of sharing Christ’s love and offering a tangible expression of hope and love.

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, shares the love of Christ by delivering gift‑filled shoeboxes to children around the world. SGMC’s Shoebox Sunday is a cherished tradition. During the the year, volunteers handmake and assemble items for the boxes.
On Shoebox Sunday in November, people of all ages pack 100 shoeboxes, write personal notes for each box, and pray for each child and the boxes’ safe delivery. Volunteers are needed to prepare items, assist during the event, pack, and donate.
