Children's Ministry
Jesus said, “Let the children alone, don’t prevent them from coming to me. God’s kingdom
is made up of people like these.” Matthew 19:14 (The Message)
At Starkville GMC, we are committed to nurturing our children on their walk with Christ while teaching them to become disciples of God in their everyday life. We want our kids to know the love of Jesus and show that same love of Jesus to everyone they encounter.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
ABOUT ARRIVING FOR NURSERY OR SUNDAY GROUPS
Check-in begins at 8:45 AM. Come to the Greeter Table located under the canopied entrance between Buildings C and D. A greeter will assist you in signing in your child and direct you to the appropriate classroom. Look for the signs marking classrooms for nursery (infant to 4 years), age 3/4s, K-3rd grade, and 4th-6th grade.
Your child's safety is a priority for us. The doors on the north side of Building D (adjacent to the Band Hall/Springer Center) will be locked to ensure the safety of our children. Only leaders and parents will have access to the Children's Ministry area. Our adult/student ratio for the nursery and Sunday groups follow the guidelines of the Early Childhood Education Association and FellowshipOne Ministries.

Nursery and 3/4s class | Building C (with the Adult Sunday Groups)
WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES
Children meet at Starkville Academy from 5:30 to 6:30 PM for Wednesday night activities. They enjoy Bible activities, games, and fellowship. Adult and youth activities occur at the same time and location.
Children's choir for ages 4 to 6th grade is led by Gaye Lindsay. Rehearsals are held during the Wednesday night activity time. Through choir, the children learn more about Scripture and music; the choir sings periodically during worship and for homebound members.
BAPTISM AND CONFIRMATION
Baptism
The sacrament of baptism is open to persons of all age, including infants. Parents and family members speak on the child’s behalf and at the same time confirm their faith in Christ. Members of SGMC vow to support these parents and surround the child in God's steadfast love.
Contact Genny Prewitt or Pastor Bob Rambo if you have questions or are ready to take the next step? Contact Krista Wilford
Confirmation
At SGMC, students in 7th grade complete a confirmation process. This semester-long spiritual experience prepares the students to publicly "confirm" their intention to live the vows of their baptism and become a member of SGMC.
ACOYLTES
Worship service is enriched by children serving as acolytes to light the altar candles and to extinguish them at the end of the service. These symbolic acts of bringing the Light of Christ into our worship service and then exiting with the light of Jesus to the world set the tone for true worship.
If your child would like to be a part of the acolyte ministry, communicate with
Genny Prewitt. She will introduce your child to this enriching aspect of worship and explain the details of how to perform the duties.
